Originally founded as Ladies Learning Code in 2011, the organization has evolved to run programming for adults, youth and educators through programs Ladies, Girls, Kids, Teens and Teachers Learning Code. Today, Canada Learning Code operates in over 35 communities across the country, driving results through program design and delivery, strategic industry and public partnerships, research and advocacy. To date, the organization has reached over 250,000 learners through an in-person experience.

We are looking for a creative, mission-driven, experienced leader to join our team as a Director of Program Design

What Success Looks Like

  • Our delivery channels are supported with the tools and knowledge to successfully implement our programs
  • We have programming that inspires and energizes our community and holds our position as a leader in digital education and considers the diverse and unique needs of Canada
  • We develop our programs within a robust learning objectives framework with a consideration for evaluation and pedagogy
  • We grow our programs across the country and reach associated learner targets
  • The Program Design Team is engaged and successful within their roles

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Canada Learning Code’s program design strategy
  • Drive the direction of Program Design team based on data and research
  • Ensure that programs are developed in line with Canada Learning Code’s goals and objectives, standards of quality and style
  • Lead team communication strategy by facilitating weekly team meetings, weekly one-on-one meetings and managing weekly update emails
  • Provide strong leadership to Program Design team by managing and supporting all job duties, targets and goals and ensure they are adequately prepared to fulfill their duties
  • Support partnership relationship management, as it relates to program development
  • Support the establishment and management of budgets for, and with, Managers to be executed by the delivery teams (in collaboration with COO, CEO and Director of Delivery)
  • Responsible for the implementation and measurement of program success in partnership with evaluation team
  • Keep abreast of education and technology trends and ensure that Canada Learning Code's programs and strategic partnerships reflect these

About You

  • You are a strong people manager and have experience managing teams with a variety of roles
  • You have experience with budget management & know your way around a P&L
  • You are a highly organized and skilled project manager who can manage multiple projects and timelines and can hold others accountable for theirs
  • You have the ability to build strong relationships among peers, partners and team members
  • You are highly creative and have the ability to think outside the box
  • You have strong communication skills and love effective collaboration
  • You are passionate about designing effective and inclusive learning environments
  • You are a flexible team player and leader and confident in asking the right questions and being engaged to find positive solutions
  • You can step in to make decisions and take ownership over a project with only some background information

Work Hours and Environment This is a full-time position. Core working hours are 10AM - 4PM Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work outside these hours as you prefer and is needed to achieve goals. This role will work primarily from our HQ office space but our organization has a flexible workplace policy. We have an open concept workspace with flexible workspace options.

Some evening and weekend work will be required. Some travel may be required.

This role reports to our COO.
