Canada Learning Code is Canada's leading national charity championing digital literacy education. We are looking for a self-directed and experienced developer to join our team as a APEX/Java Developer (Independent Contractor)

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with our Operations and Program Delivery Team to understand feature needs and improvements that need to be made to our application
  • Maintain and improve our existing Salesforce application
  • Use APEX, Visualforce or the Lightning Platform to create new functionality and extend existing apps
  • Customize fields, page layouts, record types, reports and dashboards
  • Create new objects and fields, configure page layouts and Lightning pages, leverage Salesforce automation, formulas, and validation rules
  • Work through development bugs and challenges and keep coming up with solutions
  • Write simple documentation on requirements discovery and solution design

About You

  • You have a degree in a technical field or equivalent. Salesforce certifications are a plus!
  • You have 3 to 5 years of experience in software development using any of the following: Java, Apex
  • You have familiarity with Salesforce as a user or developer
  • Demonstrated knowledge in constructing solid data models, with emphasis on hierarchies, parent to child relationships, and junction
  • You have strong communication skills
  • You are a flexible team player and confident in asking the right questions and being engaged to find positive solutions
  • You are comfortable problem solving and finding the answers to your questions resourcefully
  • You have a driven personality to see projects and tasks through to completion
  • You have a 'no job is too big or too small' mentality
  • You are reliable, honest, and trustworthy and have strong integrity

Scope of work This is a part-time, Independent Contract position (5-10 hours per week, indefinite period). You will have total flexibility around when and where you work (remote role from anywhere in Canada).

This role reports to our COO.
