Canada Learning Code is a national not-for-profit organization championing digital literacy education, working nation-wide and across all sectors to equip Canadians with technical skills. To date, the organization has taught over 100,000 learners through their programs, which are offered in 35 cities across the country. Founded as Ladies Learning Code in 2011, the organization has evolved to run programming for adults, youth and educators through programs Ladies, Girls, Kids, Teens and Teachers Learning Code. Canada Learning Code’s goal is to create 10 million technology learning experiences for Canadians over ten years. Technical skills are a tool of empowerment, and it is the organization’s mission to ensure that all Canadians - particularly those who are currently underrepresented in the tech sector - have access to learn these critical skills and be active participants in the digital age.

We are looking for a bright, mission-driven, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Teen Content Developer (Independant Contractor)

What Success Looks Like

  • We create fun and engaging modular content for our Experiences and Programs
  • Content designed in consistency with our program goals, standards and experience flows
  • We create innovative content that positions us as leaders in this space

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our Content Design Manager to “teen-ify” lesson content, to be used for our Teens Learning Code program
  • Modify existing content using HTML + CSS
  • Create and update repositories in Github
  • Know what is relevant to teenage girls (cis +trans) and non-binary youth (13-17) Ex. You should probably have a strong GIF game
  • Consider feedback data and insights to effectively adjust existing content, with the guidance of our Content Design Lead
  • Engage in our Content Advisory Councils
  • Help identify new tools and approaches to teaching youth and adults
  • Work with the appropriate Program Manager to support pilots and make adjustments as needed based on pilot results

About You

  • You take initiative to look for ways our content can be improved and implement these changes
  • You have excellent time management skills
  • You have an eye for design
  • You are highly creative
  • Your gif game is strong

Work Hours and Environment

  • Up to 40 hours over 3 month independant contract
  • Preferably 3-4 hours/week (flexible, based on your schedule and availability)
  • Remote - anywhere in Canada works!

This role reports to our Content Design Manager.
